Executive Chef Henry Haller Browns Rack of Lamb

In this photograph, taken July 26, 1977, White House Executive Chef Henry Haller browns rack of lamb in large iron skillets in the White House Kitchen in preparation for a State Dinner hosted by President Jimmy Carter in honor of Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti of Italy. Haller served as executive chef at the White House from 1966-1987, adapting his recipes for the personal tastes of five first families and their distinguished guests. This photograph is part of Chef Haller's personal collection.
